Legacy San Diego was founded by husband and wife team Maria Victoria Pelts and Brandon Pelts, united by a shared love for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a commitment to building a strong, safe, and welcoming community.
Maria Victoria began her Jiu-Jitsu journey in Brazil, training alongside her father from a young age. What started as a family tradition quickly became a lifelong passion. With over 18 years of experience, her background is deeply rooted in the authentic values of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu discipline, respect, humility, and perseverance. Jiu-Jitsu shaped not only her skills on the mat, but also her character, leadership, and approach to teaching.
Brandon discovered Jiu-Jitsu five years ago, and it immediately became more than just a sport it became a calling. Through training, he found purpose, personal growth, and a deep respect for the art. His journey brought him and Maria Victoria together, and destiny did the rest. Their shared passion for Jiu-Jitsu became the foundation of both their partnership and their vision for Legacy San Diego.
Together, Maria Victoria and Brandon lead and own Legacy San Diego, a school built on more than just techniques and competition. Their mission is to create a space where students of all ages feel safe, supported, and empowered. Safety, community, discipline, and personal growth are at the heart of everything they do—especially in their kids’ program, where confidence and character are developed alongside Jiu-Jitsu skills.
At Legacy San Diego, Jiu-Jitsu is not just about learning how to fight it’s about building confidence, resilience, respect, and lifelong habits that carry off the mat and into everyday life. They are proud to pass on the traditions of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while fostering a positive, family-oriented environment where everyone belong
